Dual-use Arctic infrastructure

The expanded airport is dual-use Arctic sovereignty infrastructure — CC-130J and CC-177 capable, supporting NORAD, the North Warning System and the Canadian Armed Forces. It serves Déline, one of five Sahtu communities in a region of more than 2,500 residents, on Great Bear Lake — the world's largest undeveloped freshwater lake and a UNESCO Biosphere.
